Jacob Richmond Sackett, sanitary inspector, son of Frederick A Sackett and Laura A Bassett, was born in West Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 21 May 1880.1 He died aged 81 on 22 March 1962.2 He married Mabel Munsell.

In 1900 he was living at 16 Beech Street, SpringfieldG, in the household of his parents Frederick and Laura, and was recorded as Jacob R Sackett, an office boy, single, aged 20 and born in Massachusetts.4
In 1910 he was living at 33 Walnut Street, SpringfieldG, and was recorded as Jacob R Sackett, sanitary inspector, head of household, married, aged 29 and born in Massachusetts. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Mabel, 26, and son Frederick, aged two. Also in the household was Jacob's brother Clarence F Sackett, 41.5
Jacob completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was then chief sanitary inspector for the City of Springfield. He was living at 364 White Street, SpringfieldG, and his nearest relative was his wife Mabel.6
In 1920 he was living at 366 White Street, SpringfieldG, and was recorded as Jacob R Sackett, chief sanitary inspector, health department, head of household, aged 39 and born in Massachusetts. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Mabel, 36, and their children, Frederick, 12, and Richard, aged six.7
