Charles Melvin Sackett, carpenter, son of Harvey Chafy Sackett and Sophia Irene Post, was born in Potter County, PennsylvaniaG, on 21 October 1845.1,2 He died aged 74 on 25 July 1920 and was buried at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London, Outagamie County, WisconsinG.3,2 He married first on 24 June 1864, Fleeta Arvilla Stout.4 She was born in PennsylvaniaG on 15 December 1846.4,5 She died aged 54 on 27 April 1901 and was buried at Floral Hill Cemetery.4 He married second on 30 September 1903, Mary Alice (Barker) Tice.4 She was born in New York StateG in October 1860.5
     In 1880 Charles was living in Hortonia, Outagamie County, WisconsinG, and was recorded in the census as C M Sackett, head of household, a carpenter, aged 35 and born in Pennsylvania. Living with him were his wife Arvilla, aged 34 and also born in Pennsylvania, and their children, Cora, 15, Louella, 11, Ray, 7, Rena, 3, and Ralph, aged one.6
     In 1900 he was living in Hortonia, Outagamie CountyG, and was recorded as Chas Sackett, a carpenter, head of household, aged 54 and born in Pennsylvania. He owned his home free of mortgage. Living with him were his wife Arvilla, 53, and their children, Ralph, 21, Charles, 17, Ruth, 15, and Madjiske, aged ten. Charles and Arvilla's son Ray was living next door with his wife and daughter.7
     In 1910 he was living at Lake Avenue, Crandon, Forest County, WisconsinG, and was recorded as Charles M Sackett, a carpenter, head of household, aged 64. He owned his home on a mortgage. Living with him were his second wife, Mary, 48, their daughter Alice, 3, and Mary's son George S Tice, 16, by her first marriage.8
     In 1920 he was living in CrandonG and was recorded as Charles M Sackett, retired, head of household, aged 74. Living with him were his wife Mary, 49 [actually 59], and their daughter Alice, aged twelve.9
