Caroline Sackett, daughter of Augustus Russell Sackett and Mary Haw, was born in Darlington, Durham County, Ontario, CanadaG, in November 1838.1 She died aged 69 in Egremont, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 20 July 19082 and was buried at Swinton Park Cemetery, Grey CountyG.4 She married in Northumberland and Durham County, Ontario, CanadaG, on 26 December 1859, Zachariah Jewell, son of Thomas Jewell and Mary Ann ___.3 Zachariah was born in Liskeard, Cornwall, EnglandG, in 1838.5 He died aged 43 of typhoid fever in Victoria County, OntarioG, on 3 April 1882.6
In 1850 Caroline was living in Canton, St Lawrence County, New York StateG, in the household of her parents Augustus and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Caroline Sackett, aged eleven and born in New York.7
In 1861 she was living in Brock, OntarioG, in the household of her husband Zacheriah Jewel, 23, a labourer, and was recorded as Caroline Jewel, aged 23. Their daughter, Martha Jane, aged one, was living with them.8
In 1871 she was living in Mariposa, Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, CanadaG, in the household of her husband Zachariah Jewell, 33, a shoemaker, and was recorded as Caroline Jewell, aged 32. Living with them were their children, Rebecca, 10, Mary, 7, George, 5, Hannah, 4, and Ida Jane, aged one.9
In 1891 she was living in Lindsay, Victoria County, OntarioG, and was recorded as Caroline Jewel, a widow, aged 52. Her children, Emma, 15, and Ethel, aged twelve, were living with her.10
