Chauncey Sackett, son of Joseph Sackett and Comfort ___, was born, presumably in Addison County, VermontG, in about 1780. He died aged 47 in Marlow, Addison CountyG, on 21 April 1827 and was buried at Advent-Smith Cemetery, AddisonG.1,2 He married in about 1814, Polly ___.3 Polly was born in VermontG in about 1792.4 She died aged about 72 in MichiganG on 22 November 1864 and was buried at Follett Cemetery, Bellevue, Eaton County, MichiganG.2
     Chauncey was listed in the 1820 census as a householder in Addison, VermontG.5
     Chauncey died intestate. The Probate Court at New Haven, Addison CountyG, appointed Joseph Spencer Jr as administrator of the estate on 14 May 1827. An inventory dated 6 June 1827 valued the 47-acre land holding at $517, and personal estate, including livestock, at $924. A list of claims against the estate amounting to $121 was drawn up on 14 November 1827. Several years later, in October 1831, the Court appointed a committee to value the real estate and set out a one-third widow's share. The land, comprising 52 acres, was valued at $624, and two parcels of land, valued together at $208, were allotted to Polly.
     In June 1836, Polly was formally appointed guardian of her children Alonzo and Polly Mariah, they being minor heirs to Chauncey's estate who would inherit when they came of age. Polly's elder daughter Eliza was by then of full age, and her husband Almon Murray stood surety.6
     In 1830, Chauncey's widow Polly was listed as a householder in AddisonG.7
     Polly was listed in the 1840 census as a householder in Canton, St Lawrence County, New York StateG.8
     In 1850 Polly, aged 57, was living in Bellevue, Eaton County, MichiganG, with her son Alonzo in the household of George Hyer, a farmer.9
     In 1860 she was living in BellevueG in the household of her son Alonzo and daughter-in-law Maria, and was recorded as Polly Sackett, aged 68 and born in Vermont.10
