Frederick John Lenham Sackett, son of Frederick Sackett and Mary Culmer, was born in Lambeth, SurreyG, on 4 January 18401 and baptized at St John the Evangelist, LambethG, on 22 March 18402 and died aged 82 in 5 Hawley Street, Margate, KentG, on 18 February 1922.3,4 He married in Canterbury, KentG, in 1864, Emma Hagell, daughter of Frederick William Hagell and Elizabeth Eleanor Parsley.5,6,7 She was born in Canterbury, KentG, in about 18425 and died aged 81 in ThanetG in 1924.8
In 1841 Frederick was living at Roussell Street, Bermondsey, SurreyG, in the household of his parents Frederick and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Frederick Sackett, aged one and born in Surrey.9
In 1851 he was living at Barley Mow Brewery, Wyldes Rents, Bermondsey, SurreyG, in the household of his parents Frederick and Mary, and was recorded as Frederick Sackett, a scholar, aged 11 and born in Lambeth.10
In 1861 he was living at Phoenix Brewery, Margate, KentG, in the household of his stepfather William Goldsack and mother Mary, and was recorded as Frederick Sackett, a carpenter, unmarried, aged 21, and born in Lambeth.11
In 1871 he was living at Chester House, Sweyer? Road, St John's, MargateG, and was recorded as Frederick Sackett, a carpenter, head of household, married, aged 31, and born in London. Living with him were his wife Emma, aged 28, and born in Canterbury, their daughter Ellen, aged three, and Frederick's stepsister Emily A Goldsack, aged 16, a domestic servant.5
In 1881 he was living at 13 Mill Lane, St John's, MargateG, and was recorded as Fredk. Jno. L. Sackett, a confectioner and toy dealer, head of household, married, aged 41, and born in London. Living with him were his wife Emma, aged 38, and born in Canterbury, and daughter Ellen, aged 14.12
In 1891 he was living at 25 Addington Road, MargateG, and was recorded as Frederick J L Sackett, a joiner, head of household, married, aged 51 and born in Newington, London. Living with him were his wife Emma, 49, and unmarried daughter Ellen, aged 23. Boarding in the household were three Fortescue children.13
In 1899 Frederick was running a boarding house at 7 Union Crescent, MargateG.14
In 1901 Frederick was living at Crescent Lodge, St John's, Margate, KentG, and was recorded in the census as F J L Sackett, a carpenter (employed), head of household, married, aged 61, and born at Newington Causeway, London. Living with him were his wife Emma, aged 58, and born in Canterbury, Kent, and their unmarried daughter Ellen, aged 33.15
In 1911 he was living at 21 Hawley Square, MargateG, in the household of his daughter Ellen, and was recorded as Fredrick J L Sackett, aged 71 and born in Lambeth. His wife Emma, 68, was living with him.16
In 1921 he was living at 5 Hawley Square, MargateG, and was recorded as Fredrick J L Sackett, a retired carpenter, aged 81. Living with him were his wife Emma, 78, and their unmarried daughter Ellen, 53.17
