Edwin M Sackett, farmer, son of Nehemiah Jobe D Sackett and Emeline Wood, was born in Ulster County, New York StateG, on 14 December 1844.3,4 He died aged 70 in Liberty Township, PennsylvaniaG, on 17 November 19153 and was buried at Mountain Valley Cemetery, Jessup, Susquehanna County, PennsylvaniaG.5 He married in say 1867, Lydia Jane Osterhout, daughter of Abram Osterhout and Jane Kelder.2 Lydia was born in Liberty, Susquehanna County, PennsylvaniaG, on 21 August 1848.3,6 She died aged 81 in Hallstead, Susquehanna County, PennsylvaniaG, on 10 July 1930 and was buried at Mountain Valley Cemetery, Liberty, Susquehanna CountyG.7
     In 1860 Edwin was living in Liberty, Susquehanna County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents Nehemiah and Emeline, and was recorded in the census as Edwin Sacket, aged 15 and born in New York.8
     Edwin served during the American Civil War in the 50th New York Engineer Regiment.5
     In 1880 Edwin was living at Liberty, Susquehanna County, PennsylvaniaG, and was recorded in the census as Edwin M Sackett, head of household, married, a farmer, aged 35, and born in New York State. Living with him were his wife Lydia, aged 31 and born in Pennsylvania, and their children Hattie, 12, Samuel, 11, Herbert, 5, and Mattie, aged three.9
