Grace Mabel Sackett, daughter of Jonathan "John" Andrew Sackett and William Ophelia Smith, was born in Winthrop, Little River County, ArkansasG, on 27 July 1910.1 She died aged 85 in Hawthorne, Mineral County, NevadaG, on 16 June 19962 and was buried at Hawthorne CemeteryG.3,4 She married first in Sevier County, ArkansasG, on 11 June 1926, James Duffield King, son of James Perry King and Pauline Genevieve Smith.5 James was born in De Queen, Sevier County, ArkansasG, on 28 August 1900.1 He died aged 65 in HawthorneG on 27 May 1966 and was buried at Hawthorne CemeteryG.1 Grace married second in NevadaG on 8 May 1967, Joseph W LaCruze.1 Joseph was born in ColoradoG on 12 January 1911.1 He died aged 79 in Fallon, Churchill County, NevadaG, on 17 March 1990.1
In 1920 Grace was living at Cason Road, Justice Precinct #5, Titus County, TexasG, in the household of her parents John and Ophelia, and was recorded in the census as Gracie Sackett, aged nine and born in Arkansas.6
Grace Mabel King La Cruze, 85, a resident of Hawthorne for the past 8 years died at Mt. Grant General Hospital on Sunday, June 16, 1996. Grace was born in Winthrop, Arkansas on July 27, 1910 the daughter of Jonathan Andrew Sackett and William Ophelia Smith. She had been a resident of Nevada since 1959. She moved to Gabbs from Yuma, Arizona in 1959. She lived in Lunning for several years before moving to Hawthorne 8 years ago. Grace was a home maker most of her working life, but also served as a mail carrier for the route between Lunning and Gabbs for many years. Active in community affairs she helped to organize the Lunning Volunteer Fire Department; and was on the Hawthorne Library Committee. She was an accomplished quilter. Grace was preceded in death by her first husband, James Duffield King in 1966; second husband, Joseph W. LaCruze in 1990; two brothers and six sisters. Immediate survivors are her sons and daughter and her 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Hawthorne — A funeral for Grace Mabel Sackett King LaCruze, 85, who died June 16, 1996, at Mount Grant General Hospital, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today at Gunter's Hawthorne Funeral Home.
A native of Winthrop, Ark., she was born July 27, 1910, to Johnathan Andrew and William Ophelia Smith Sackett, and had lived in Hawthorne for the past eight years, having come from Gabbs and Luning, Nev., and Yuma, Ariz.
Mrs. LaCruze operated the mail route between Luning and Gabbs for several years. She helped organize the Luning Volunteer Fire Department and [was] a member of the Hawthorne Library committee.
Her first husband, James Dulfield King, died in 1966, second husband, Joseph W LaCruze in 1990 and she was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
Surviving are sons, James Donald King of Fallon, Thurmon Eugene King of Pasco, Wash., and Cleatus Quindel King of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; daughter, Ione Elysse King of Redding, Calif; sisters, Emmaline Rosebella Finney of Olathe, Colo., and Ophelia Hughes and Mary Ione Franklin and daughter, Queechy Mae Caudill, all of Mount Pleasant, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
