Edwin Sackett, son of Deacon Clark Sackett and Laura Melissa Akins, was born in Tallmadge, OhioG, on 1 January 1827.1,2 He died aged 52 in Genesee, Allegany County, New York StateG, on 1 September 1879.1,2 He married in about 1855, Susan Parmelia Pierce, daughter of Philo P Pierce and Lura Minor.1,2 Susan was born in ConnecticutG in about 1834.3
In 1850 Edwin was living in TallmadgeG in the household of his father Clark and stepmother Jane, and was recorded in the census as Edwin Sackett, a farmer, aged 22 and born in Ohio.4
In 1860 he was living in Geneseo, Livingston County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Edwin P Sackett, a farmer, aged 33. Living with him were his wife Susan, 27, and their son Willis, aged two.5
In 1870 he was living in GeneseoG and was recorded as Edwin Sackett, a farmer, aged 43. Living with him were his wife Susan, 36, and their son Willis, aged twelve. Also in the household were a female domestic and a male labourer.6
In 1880 Edwin's widow Susan was living in Geneseo, Livingston County, New York StateG, in the household of her son Willis, and was recorded in the census as Susan P Sackett, a landlady, a widow, aged 46. Her younger son Herbert, aged eight, was living with her.7
In 1905 she was living at Brantford Place, Buffalo, Erie County, New York StateG, in the household of her son Herbert, and was recorded as Susan Sackett, aged 72.8
In 1910 she was living at Brantford Place, BuffaloG, in the household of her son Herbert, and was recorded as Susan P Sckett [sic], a widow, aged 76.9
