Stephen Edward Sackett, plasterer, son of George Sackett and Louisa Else, was born in Faversham, KentG, in 18841 and baptized at Preston-next-FavershamG on 19 March 1884.2 He died aged 33 in Birchington, KentG, on 23 May 19173,4 and was buried at BirchingtonG on 28 May 1917.5 He married in FavershamG in 1910, Tryphena Butcher Maytum, daughter of Arthur W Maytum and Ellen ___.6 Tryphena was born in Boughton under Blean, KentG, on 5 April 1885.7,8 She died aged 77 in Sittingbourne, KentG, in 1963.9
In 1891 Stephen was living at 34 Tanner Street, Faversham, KentG, in the household of his parents George and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Stephen Sackett, a scholar, aged eight [actually seven] and born in Faversham.10
In 1901 he was living at 3 Dartford Villas, Birchington, KentG, and was recorded as Stephen E Sackett, an apprentice to a plumber, single, aged 17 and born in Faversham, son of George Sackett.11
In 1911 he was living at 30 Victoria Terrace, Birchington, KentG, and was recorded as Stephen Sackett, a plasterer working for a building contractor, head of household, aged 27 and born in Faversham. Living with him was his wife Tryphena, aged 25.12
Stephen's wife Tryphena joined the National Union of Railwaymen at CanterburyG on 7 February 1919 and worked as a porter on the South Eastern and Chatham Railway.13
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Stephen's widow Tryphena was living at Woodside Cottages, Swale Rural District, KentG, with her son Stephen and her parents Arthur and Ellen Maytum.14
