Edith Jane Sackett, daughter of James Uriah Miller Sackett and Harriet Mirams, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, in 18811,2 and baptized at St George's Church, RamsgateG, on 12 July 1881.3 She married in Lewisham, KentG, in 1903, Herbert Musgrave Miller.
In 1891 Edith was living at 7 Bristol Place, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of her parents James and Harriet, and was recorded in the census as Edith J Sackett, a scholar, aged nine and born in Ramsgate.4
In 1901 she was living at 66 Laleham Road, Lewisham, KentG, in the household of Eliza Lankford, a laundress, and was recorded as Edith Sackett, a laundress, boarder, single, aged 20 and born in Ramsgate.5
In 1911 she was living at 1 Shorndean Street, Catford, LondonG, in the household of her husband Herbert, 39, a journeyman baker, and was recorded as Edith Jane Miller, aged 29 and born in Ramsgate. Living with them was Herbert's widowed mother Eliza Lankford, 58. There was also a boarder in the household, Alfred Tigwell, 25.6
