Loomis J Sackett, a farmer, son of Daniel Sacket and Tryphena Loomis, was born in Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in about 1823.1 He married first at Southwick Congregational Church, Southwick, Hampden CountyG, on 23 September 1847, Cordelia Stephens, daughter of Solomon R Stephens and Flora ___.2,3,4 Cordelia died in SouthwickG on 4 March 1871.5,6 He married second in SouthwickG on 7 October 1873, Martha M Tupper.7 Martha was born in VermontG in about 1836.8
     Loomis was admitted to membership of the Southwick Congregational ChurchG on 6 May 1866. His first wife Cordelia had been a member when young, had been dismissed to the Westfield church in 1851, and had rejoined the Southwick church in 1857.9,6
     In 1880 Loomis was living in SouthwickG and was recorded in the census as Loomis J Sackett, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 57 and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his second wife Martha, aged 43 and born in Vermont, and her daughter Nellie M Tupper, aged 14.10
