Tryphena Sacket, daughter of Captain Daniel Sacket and Mehitable (Cadwell) Dewey, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 18 April 17711,2 and baptized at the Church of Christ, WestfieldG, on 28 April 1771.3 She died aged 28, following the birth of her son Oliver, in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 7 July 17994 and was buried at Pittsfield CemeteryG.5 She married in about 1788, Samuel Root, son of Colonel Oliver Root and Hannah Ashley. Samuel was born in PittsfieldG on 1 April 1769.6,7 He died aged 87 on 29 May 1856 and was buried at Pittsfield CemeteryG.5 After Tryphena's death, Samuel married Lydia Graham.5
