Mary Sacket

(1803-1881)
Mary Sacket was born probably in MassachusettsG in 1803.1,2 Her parents have not been identified. She died aged 78 in Toronto, York County, OntarioG, on 4 October 18813 and was buried at St Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery, Nobleton, OntarioG.4 She married first at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Quebec CityG, on 11 May 1822, John Alex McKenzie.5,6 John was born in ScotlandG.7 He died of cholera in Toronto, OntarioG, in about 1834.7 She married second in TorontoG on 6 August 1834, George Hill, son of Joseph Hill and Anne Hull.8,7 George was born in VermontG in 1775.9 He died aged 88 on 10 January 1863 and was buried at St Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery, NobletonG.4
     In 1851 Mary was living in North Gwillimbury, York County, OntarioG, in the household of her husband George Hill, 67, a yeoman, and was recorded in the census as Mary Hill, aged 44 and born in Massachusetts. Living with them were their children, Sarah, 15, Eliza, 13, George Jr, 9, Emma, 8, Joseph, 6, Susan, 5, Albert, 3,
and Charles, aged two.10
     In 1861 she was living in East Gwillimbury, York CountyG, in the household of her husband George Hill, 74, a labourer, and was recorded as Mary Hill, aged 54. Living with them were their children, Susan, 14, Albert, 12, and Charles, aged ten.11
     In 1871 she was living in King, York CountyG, in the household of her son George and daughter-in-law Christina, and was recorded as Mary Hill, a widow, aged 65.12
