In 1860 John was living in Clinton, DeWitt County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Barzilla and Rosanna, and was recorded in the census as Robt Campbel, aged four and born in Illinois.3
In 1870 he was living in Scott, Linn County, KansasG, in the household of his parents Barzilla and Rosanna, and was recorded as Robert Capbell [sic], aged 13 and born in Illinois.4
In 1900 he was living in Ottawa, Franklin County, KansasG, in the household of his parents Barzilla and Rosanna, and was recorded as John R Campbell, a real estate agent, aged 44. His wife Julia, 35, and their son Vannie, aged eight, were living with him. John was the census enumerator for his district.5
