Benoni Gleason, son of Jacob Gleason and Ruth Sacket, was born in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts^G, about 1760.^1,2 He died aged 59 in Benson, Rutland County, Vermont^G, on 29 August 1819 and was buried at Old Benson Cemetery^G.^4,3 He married in Pittsfield^G Lucy Hubbard, daughter of Captain James Hubbard and Martha Livermore.³ Lucy was born in Pittsfield^G on 3 November 1766.³ She died aged 63 in Benson^G on 6 February 1830 and was buried at Old Benson Cemetery^G.³
Benoni served in the American Revolutionary War in Captain William Ford's company of Pittsfield. He was present at the surrender of British General Cornwallis at Yorktown in 1781.¹
