Homer D Sackett, son of Charles Sackett and Elizabeth Guernsey, was born in Afton, Chenango County, New York StateG, on 24 August 1892.1 He married in Schenevus, Otsego County, New York StateG, on 3 November 1914, Hattie Decker, daughter of Grant Decker and Electa Mattice.2
In 1900 Homer was living in AftonG in the household of his grandparents David and Susanna Guernsey, and was recorded in the census as Homer Sackett, a schoolboy, aged seven and born in New York.3
In 1910 he was living in Maryland Town, Otsego County, New York StateG, in the household of his grandparents David and Susanna Guernsey, and was recorded as Homer D Sackett, a farm laborer on his grandfather's farm, aged 17 and born in New York.4
Homer completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was then aged 24, married with one child, living at 70 Centre Street, Oneonta, Otsego County, New York StateG. He was a truck driver at the Oneonta Laundry Company.1
