Richard Jefferson Sackett, son of Richard Jefferson Sackett and Lydia Barber, was born in Potter, Yates County, New York StateG, on 13 July 1863.1 He died aged 65 in Odessa Township, Ionia County, MichiganG, on 10 June 19292 and was buried at Fuller Family Cemetery, Carlton, Barry County, MichiganG.3 He married in Hart, Oceana County, MichiganG, on 17 September 1891, Ella May Johns, daughter of Samuel Johns and Adaline Winchell.4 Ella was born in Allegan County, MichiganG, on 2 April 1873.5 She died aged 68 at the Pennock Hospital, Hastings, Barry County, MichiganG, on 10 August 1941 following an accident when watching a motorcycle event with her son Frank, who also died.6 She was buried at Fuller Cemetery, HastingsG, on 13 August 1941.6
In 1870 Richard was living in Potter, Yates County, New York StateG, in the household of his mother Lydia and stepfather Cephas Isham, and was recorded in the census as Richard Sackett, aged six and born in New York.7
In 1880 he was living in Manchester, Ontario County, New York StateG, in the household of Francis Lindner, 51, a butcher, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, servant, a laborer, aged 16. His widowed mother Lydia was also living in Manchester.8
In 1900 he was living in Homestead Township, Benzie County, MichiganG, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, a teamster, head of household, aged 36. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Ella, 26, and their children, Pearl, 8, Mary, 4, and Minnie, aged eleven months.9
In 1910 he was living in Homestead Township, MichiganG, and was recorded as Richard J Sackett, a laborer in a veneer factory, head of household, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Ella, 35, and their children, Pearl, 17, Mary, 13, Minnie, 10, Richard, 3, and Edwin, aged nine months.10
In 1920 he was living in Hastings, MichiganG, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, a farm laborer, head of household, aged 58. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Ella, 48, and their children, Richard, 13, and Frank, aged eight.11
