Richard Alexander Sackett, son of John Edward Sackett and Edith Elizabeth Whitworth, was born in West Ham, EssexG, on 8 August 1920.1,2 He died aged 74 in Newham, LondonG, in May 1995.3 He married in Biggleswade, HertfordshireG, in 1941, Elsie A Brown.4,5 Elsie was born in West HamG in 19206 and died there aged 46 in 1966.7
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Richard was living at 3 Pond Road, West Ham, EssexG, with his parents, John and Edith. He was unmarried and was a plumber's mate in the chemical industry.8
