Herbert Joel Sackett, son of George Sackett and Catherine Burmaster, was born in Chautauqua County, New York StateG, on 8 May 1895.2 He died aged 94 in Erie, Erie County, PennsylvaniaG, on 31 January 19902 and was buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Silver Creek, Chautauqua County, New York StateG.3 He married Alice Katherine Heath.2
In 1900 Herbert was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents George and Catherine, and was recorded in the census as Herbert Sackett, aged five and born in New York.4
Herbert completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was then aged 22 and was living at Silvercreek, Chautauqua CountyG. He was employed as a machinist at the Invincible Train Company. During the War he served as a private in the US Army. He enlisted on 21 October 1918 and was discharged on 23 December 1918.3,5
In 1920 he was living at Middle Road, Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Hurbert Sackett, a machinist, head of household, aged 25. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Alice, 26, and their son Richard, aged three months.6
In 1930 he was living at Knight Street, Hanover, New York StateG, and was recorded as Herbert J Sackett, a milling machinist, head of household, aged 35. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Alice, 36, and their children, Richard, 10, Clara, 9, and Robert, aged six.7
