Gladys May Sackett, daughter of William Edgar Sackett Jr and Edith Freeman, was born in Essex County, New JerseyG, on 14 September 1892.1,2 She died aged 94 in Volusia County, FloridaG, on 1 February 1987.3,4 She married in Brooklyn, New York CityG, on 7 February 1912, Albert Edward Applegate.5
     In 1900 Gladys was living at 111 Maryland Avenue NE, Washington, DCG, in the household of her widowed father William, and was recorded in the census as Gladys Sackett, aged seven and born in New York.6
     In 1920 she was living at Allison Road, Bridgeport, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, in the household of her husband Albert, 27, a merchant, and was recorded as Gladys Applegatte, a forelady in a music company, aged 26. Living with them was their daughter Evelyn, aged six.7
     In 1930 she was living at Elmwood Avenue, East Orange, Essex County, New JerseyG, in the household of her husband Albert, 37, a real estate salesman, and was recorded as Gladys M Applegate, aged 37. Living with them were their children, Evelyn, 17, and Edward, aged seven. There was also a male boarder in the household.8
