Samuel Merchant Sackett, son of William Caldwell Sackett and Permelia Stevenson "Milla" Eberhart, was born in PennsylvaniaG in about 1861.1,2 He married in New Geneva, Fayette CountyG, on 10 October 1889, Cora L Ramsey, daughter of James Ramsey and Mary ___. Cora was born in Fayette CountyG in about 1864.3
     In 1870 Samuel was living in NicholsonG in the household of his parents William and Parmelia, and was recorded in the census as Merchant Sacket, aged eight and born in Pennsylvania.4
     In 1880 he was living in Springhill, Fayette CountyG, in the household of his parents William and Permelia, and was recorded as Merchant Sacket, aged 18.5
     In 1900 he was living in Smithfield, Fayette CountyG, in the household of his parents William and Permilia, and was recorded as Marchand Sackett, a liveryman, aged 38.6
     In 1910 he was living at Liberty Street, SmithfieldG, in the household of his parents William and Permilia, and was recorded as Samuel M Sackett, a farmer, aged 47.7
     In 1920 he was living at Liberty Street, SmithfieldG, in the household of his brother Hugh and sister-in-law Anna, and was recorded as Samuel M Sackett, stable boss at a coal mine, aged 57.8
     In 1930 he was living at Liberty Street, SmithfieldG, in the household of his widowed brother Hugh, and was recorded as Merchant S Sackett, a widower, aged 67.9
     Samuel was listed in the Smithfield Directory in 1931 and 1934, living with his brother Hugh.10
