Major Chauncey Hyde, son of General Caleb Hyde and Elisabeth Sackett, was born on 29 January 1769.1 He married in about 1790, Alice Slaughter.1
     Chauncey Hyde served in the military, being commissioned Lieutenant in 1793, Captain in 1800, and Brigade Inspector in 1802.
