Anna Belle "Annie Belle" Sackett, daughter of Charles Henry Sackett and Louisa Mercer Moseley, was born in Appomattox County, VirginiaG, on 20 May 1877.1,2,3 She died aged 86 at home at 1201 Confederate Avenue, Richmond, VirginiaG, on 31 January 1964 and was buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Lynchburg, VirginiaG.5,6 She married in LynchburgG on 28 October 1896, William Goodridge Sale, son of Arthur J Sale and Bettie Goodridge.1,4 William was born in Wythe County, VirginiaG, on 29 November 1874.7,8 He died aged 68 in RichmondG on 18 September 1943 and was buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, LynchburgG.9
In 1880 Anna was living in Clover Hill Magisterial District, Appomattox County, VirginiaG, in the household of her parents Charles and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Anna Belle Sackett, aged three and born in Virginia.10
In 1900 Anna was living at Filmon Street, LynchburgG, and was recorded in the census as Annie Belle Sale, aged 23 and born in Virginia. She was living with her daughters, Elizabeth, 2, and Louise, 1, in the household of her widowed father Charles.11
In 1910 she was living at South 8th Street, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North CarolinaG, in the household of her husband William, 35, manager at the Western Union Telephone Company, and was recorded as Anne B Sale, aged 32. They owned their home on a mortgage, Living with them were their children, Elizabeth, 12, Louisa, 11, and William, aged six. There were also two boarders in the household.12
In 1920 she was living at Hanover Avenue, Richmond, VirginiaG, in the household of her husband William, 45, division superintendent at the Telegraph Co, and was recorded as Anabel Sale, aged 42. Living with them were their children, Elizabeth, 22, Louise, 20, and Goodrich, aged 16. There was also a female servant in the household.13
