George William Sackett, son of George Sackett and Louisa Else, was born in Faversham, KentG, in 18811 and baptized at Preston-next-FavershamG on 4 December 1881.2 He died aged 30 in Birchington, KentG, on 31 March 19123,4 and was buried at All Saints, BirchingtonG. He married at All Saints, BirchingtonG, on 26 December 1905, Daisy Catherine Sarah Maytum, daughter of Arthur Maytum and Ellen ___.5,6 Daisy was born in Faversham Registration District, KentG, in 18817 and baptized at Boughton under Blean, KentG, on 21 August 1881.8 After George's death, Daisy married second, in Canterbury, KentG, in 1915, Baron Percy Mackenzie.9 Daisy died aged 90 in Herne, KentG, on 15 January 1972.10,11
In 1891 George was living at 34 Tanner Street, Faversham, KentG, in the household of his parents George and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, a scholar, aged nine and born in Preston.12
George enlisted in the East Kent Regiment "The Buffs" at BirchingtonG on 5 February 1901. He served in South Africa in the Second Boer War and saw action in Cape Colony and the Orange Free State. He was discharged on 6 June 1902.13
In 1911 he was living at 12 York Terrace, BirchingtonG, and was recorded as George Sackett, a plasterer working for a building firm, head of household, aged 29 and born in Faversham. Living with him were his wife Daisy, 29, and their daughter Dulcie, aged four.14
In 1921 George's widow Daisy was living at 6 St Edmunds Road, Canterbury, KentG, with her second husband Baron Mackenzie. Living with them were their three children and Daisy's daughter Dulcie Sackett, 14, from her first marriage.15
