Martin Luther Sackett, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Langford, OxfordshireG, on 22 September 1876.1,2,3 He died aged 75 at King George Hospital, Ilford, EssexG, on 5 November 1951.4,5 He married at St George in the East, London, in 1901, Elizabeth Anna Percival, daughter of ___ Percival and ___ Kent.6 Elizabeth was born in St George in the EastG in 1878.7 She died aged 82 at Shenley Hospital, Radlett, HertfordshireG, on 28 January 1961.8,5
     Martin was admitted, aged five, to Olga Street School, Tower Hamlets, LondonG, on 26 September 1881. The family was living at 7 Trinity Terrace, Moyan Road.3
     In 1881 Martin was living at 7 Trinity Terrace, Stepney, MiddlesexG, and was recorded in the census as Martin L Sackett, aged four and born at Langford, Oxford, the son of Benjamin Sackett.9
     In 1891 he was living at 14 Albert Square, Stepney, MiddlesexG, and was recorded as Martin Luther Sackett, a stationer's assistant (employed), aged 14 and born at Langford, Oxford, the son of Benjamin Sackett.10
     In 1901 he was living at 2 Chaucer Street, Wanstead, EssexG, in the household of his widowed mother Elizabeth, and was recorded as Martin L Sackett, a merchants' clerk, single, aged 24 and born in Langford.11
     In 1902 he was living at 9 Dangan Road, Wanstead, EssexG.12
     In 1911 he was living at 58 Bedford Road, Ilford, EssexG, and was recorded as Martin Luther Sackett, shipping merchants' clerk, head of household, aged 34 and born in Langford. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 32, and their children, Kathleen, 8, Percival, 5, and Doris, aged one.13

By 1917 he had moved to 173 Cranbrook Road, Great Ilford, EssexG.14,15
     In 1921 he was living at 173 Cranbrook Road, IlfordG, and was recorded as Martin Luther Sackett, cashier at an export company in the City of London, head of household, aged 44. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 42, and their children, Kathleen, 18, Percival, 15, and Doris, aged eleven.16
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Martin and Elizabeth were living at 173 Cranbrook Road, IlfordG. Martin was an accountant's clerk.17
     Martin left a will which was proved on 28 December 1951 by his widow Elizabeth. His estate was valued at £2,695.18
     Martin's widow Elizabeth left a will which was proved on 11 May 1961 by their son Percival. Her estate was valued at £2,780.19
