Douglas Sackett, meteorologist, son of Alfred James Sackett and Lydia Hatfield, was born at Les Banques, St Sampson's, GuernseyG, on 18 May 1907.1 He died aged 68 in GuernseyG on 1 January 1976. He married on 21 December 1939, Mary Emma (Marie) Sutton, daughter of Wilsie John Sutton and Elizabeth Hannah Jones.
     In 1911 Douglas was living at Ollivier Street, St Anne's, AlderneyG, in the household of his parents Alfred and Lydia, and was recorded in the census as Douglas Sackett, aged three and born in St Sampson's.2
