Obituary
William H. "Bill" Sackett, age 77, of Erie, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, peacefully, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Erie, on July 7, 1939, a son of the late Marie Jackson Sackett and Nelson Sackett.
Bill's greatest accomplishment in life was his family, whom he loved very much. He was a truck driver for 42 years, which earned him several awards, including "Safe Driver" for driving over two million miles without an accident. He was a Veteran of the Marine Reserves who served from 1957-1964 and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Sackett, a son, Chris Sackett, a great-grandson, William Riley and a nephew, Norman Sackett.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane Sackett, children, Pamela (Danny) Tubbs, Robert Sackett, Scott (Lisa) Sackett, Stacey (Russ) Myers and Charles (Erin) Sackett, a brother, Charles (Janice) Sackett, and grandchildren, Tina (Kenneth) Freeman, Roy (Susan) Keil, Lisa Campbell, Jessi (Thomas) Kremer, Alan Watkins, Eric (Angelina) Watkins, Robert (Rachel) Tirak, Sam Sackett, Chris Myers, Sean (Melissa) Myers, Harley (Lynn) Greenhaw and Antonio Frontino. Nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on Monday at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502, from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Donaldson officiating. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
Burial, with full Military Honors, will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
