Donald Lawther, born May 19, 1939, passed away peacefully, November 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving wife of 45 years Jane and his 5 loving children. Donald was preceded in death by; his parents, Charles Fleming Lawther and Mary Sackett Lawther, grandson Matthew Dexter and sisters Anne Sorrelle and Alice Hayward. Donald graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1957 where he was very active in sports, basketball, baseball and football. Donald graduated from Michigan State University in 1964. Donald owned and operated Brookfield Shell gas station in East Lansing, Michigan for over 30 years before retiring. In his retirement Donald loved to build and remodel homes, as well as traveling, water skiing, spending time on the lake boating and sailing. Donald was a very loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Donald is survived by his wife Jane and children Victoria Clifton (William), Duane Putnam (Julie), Valerie Dexter (Gregg), Diane Cimala and Sarah Clark (William). Donald has 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Brothers William (Beverly) James (Joan), sisters Sarah (William McShane) and Sarah Krontoft (Torben). .A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa, Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The Michigan Parkinson Foundation at 30400 Telegraph Rd, Bingham Farms, MI 48025 and the Central United Methodist Church Respite Program 912 4th Ave. Lake Odessa, Michigan 48849.
