Bertie Roy Hoard (aka Roy Bertie Hoard) (1895-1976)
Bertie Roy Hoard (#22689; also known as Roy Bertie Hoard) was b. 22 Jun
1895 in Bentonville, Benton Co., Arkansas to Thomas Miller Hoard
(1867-1936) and Martha Ellen McCombs (1870-1946). He d. 2 Feb 1976 and
is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hiwasee, Benton Co., Arkansas.
Thurmon King's database indicates that he married Ruth Walker, based on
email communication from Deloris Adkins Schwarz. Crooks and Woolsey
Genealogy by Amy Crooks (see
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3210710&id=I1278)
indicates that Roy's first wife was Bertha Walker, sister of Ruth
Walker, and that Roy and Bertha had a daughter, Fontella, who died young.
The 1930 census record supports this as Roy (widowed) is living with his
brother-in-law, Dale A. Walker in Latham, Buther Co., Kansas.
Per Find A Grave, Roy, Bertha, Fontella, and Ruth all are buried in
Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Hiwasee, Benton Co., Arkansas.

Census records suggest that Bertha's parents are George W. and Emmer C.
Walker and that Ruth and Bertha both were born in Missouri. In the 1900
census, "Albertha" is listed as b. in Aug 1895. However, the 1920 Census
suggests a possibility that Ruth might have had a different mother, as
by that time George's wife is identifed as Ada C Walker, who is 7 years
younger than Emmer. However, it also is possible that Emmer is Ruth's
mother.
Another clue to "Emmer's" identity comes from a Family Search entry for
Alta May Walker, sister of Bertha and Ruth. That entry
(https://familysearch.org/tree/#view=ancestor&person=KHWS-BH4)
identifies Alta's mother as Emma Stapleton, b. 1877 in Ozark, Christian
Co., Missouri.
