The following Letter of Administration in the Estate of Jonathan Davis deceased was granted after due and satisfactory proof had been made to me that the said Jonathan Davis had departed this life and that he died Intestate. Ambrose Clark, Surrogate.
The people of the State of New York by the Grace of God free and Independent to Beulah Davis of the County of Otsego and Erastus Sacket of the County of Barkshire [sic] and State of Massachusetts send greeting. Whereas Jonathan Davis late of Otsego County as is alledged [sic] lately died intestate having whilst living and at the time of his death Goods Chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the ordering and granting administration of all and singular the sd goods chattels and credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth appertain unto us and we being desirous that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased may be well and faithfully Administered applied and disposed of do grant unto you the said Bulah [sic] Davis and Erastus Sacket full power by these presents to Administer and faithfully dispose of all and singular the said Goods chattels and credits to ask demand recover and receive the debts which unto the said deceased whilst living and at the time of his death did belong and to pay the debts which the said deceased did owe so far as such goods chattels and credits will thereunto extend and the Law require hereby requiring you to make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to your hands possession or knowledge and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the office of the Surrogate of the County of Otsego at or before the expiration of six calendar months from the date hereof and also to render a just and true account of administration when thereunto required and we do by these presents depute constitute and appoint you the said Beulah Davis Administratrix and Erastus Sacket administrator of all and singular the Goods Chattels and credits which were of the said Jonathan Davis at the time of his death In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed Witness Ambrose Clark Esq Surrogate of the said County at Otsego the fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Eleven and of our Independence the thirty sixth—Ambrose Clark Surrogate, Otsego County. Be it remembered that on the fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven personally appeared before me Ambrose Clark Surrogate, Erastus Sacket of the County of Barkshire State of Massachusetts and Beulah Davis of the County of Otsego to whom I administered on Oath in the words following to wit You do swear that Jonathan Davis late of the County of Otsego has departed this life and that he died without any will as far as you know or believe and that you will well and truly administer all and singular the goods Chattels and credits of the said deceased and pay his debts as far as his goods chattels and credits will thereunto extend and the law require and that you will make a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and credits as also a just account of your administration and exhibit the same within the time for that purpose prescribed by law so help you God.
