In Dei nominee Amen I Thomas Sackett of the parish of Minster in the Isle of Thanet and in the County of Kent being sick in body but whole and perfect of mind thanks be given unto God make and ordain this my present last will and testament the third day of April and in the year of our Lord God 1557 in manner and form following. First and principally I bequeath unto Almighty God my soul and body and to Jesus Christ by whose bitter passion and blood shedding [__] the [__] of the cross my sins be clean washed and put away for us men and by no other means and my body to be buried in the church yard of Minster beside my father. Also I bequeath to the poor people of the parish of Minster at my [forth__] 3s 4d and at my [months__] 3s 4d and at my [_month__] 3s 4d to be duly [__ __ __] discretion of Mr John Crispe [__ __] whom I ordain my executor [__] twenty bushel of barley. Item I bequeath two ewes and two lambs to my granddaughter. Item I bequeath to Richard Cotynge two bushels of wheat. Item I bequeath to my brother Richard my chest. Item I bequeath to Alyse my sister my mother's best girdle and her beads. Also I will and bequeath the residue of my goods to be sold by my executor to the best value that may be made of it and the money thereof to be given at the discretion of my executor but the greatest part I will it to the poorest people of Minster and some to the church and at my [forth__] to have said and sung Mass and likewise at my [months__] and also at my [__months__] [__ __ __] according to the church of Ingland and the residue I give and bequeath to the church of Minster.
And as to my land this is my last will and testament the day and year above written. First I will give and bequeath ten acres of land lying in the parish of Minster in Thanet in the County of Kent and the [__] and [__ __ __] unto my brother Richard Sackett and to his children of his [__] lawfully begotten of his body and if it shall fortune the said Richard to die without issue of his body lawfully begotten then I will the ten acres of land to Alice my sister and to her heirs and if the said Alice die without issue of her body lawfully begotten then I will the said land unto Richard [Fe***] my cousin and to the children lawfully begotten of his body and if the said Roger die without issue lawfully begotten then I [give the] said lands to the next heirs that can [__ __ __] if there can be found no heirs [__ __ __] I will my said lands to be sold by my [__ __] and to be given to the poorest people and to the reparation of the church of Minster.
