Betsey Sackett, daughter of Deacon & Captain Justus Sacket and Lydia Newcomb, was born in Kent (later Warren), Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 19 September 1769.1,2 She died aged 51 in WarrenG on 19 January 18212,3 and was buried at Warren Center CemeteryG.4,5,6 She married Elisha Swift, son of Lieut Heman Swift and Mary Skiff.2 Elisha was born in Cornwall, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 10 August 1764.7 He died aged 33 in Cornwall, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 5 January 17988 and was buried at Calhoun Cemetery, CornwallG.4,9
     Elisha made a will in CornwallG on 26 December 1797. He left a one-third share of his real estate to each of his daughters, Orra, Lucy, and Polly, when they reached the age of twelve years, his wife Betsey having the use of the estate in the meantime, together with her entitlement to her widow's third during her lifetime. The estate was valued at some $3,000, comprising real estate $2,200 and personal estate $800. Elisha's brother Rufus was executor of the estate, with their father Heman standing surety.10
