Ned Lockhart Sackett, son of Edgar Harris "Ned" Sackett and Agnes Lorain Lockhart, was born in Burt County, NebraskaG, on 6 November 1934.1 He died aged 86 in Greenwood, El Dorado County, CaliforniaG, on 27 December 2020.2 He married on 25 December 1956, Rebecca Jane Humphries, daughter of Robert Thomas Humphries and Norine ___.3 Rebecca was born in July 1935.4 She died aged 85 in Orangevale, Sacramento County, CaliforniaG, on 15 November 2020.2
     In 1940 Ned was living in Tekamah, Burt County, NebraskaG, in the household of his parents Ned and Agnes, and was recorded in the census as Ned Sackett, aged five and born in Nebraska.5
     In 1950 he was living at 4824 Capitol, Omaha, Douglas County, NebraskaG, in the household of his mother Agnes, and was recorded as Ned Sackett, aged 15.6

Ned Lockhart Sackett, age 86, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 in Greenwood, CA at the home of his daughter. Ned was born on November 6, 1934 to the late Edgar and Agnes Sackett in Tekamah, NE. He attended Central High School in Omaha, NE and graduated from Purdue University in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at Purdue, Ned was an active member of Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity, and has lived out the motto: “The Truth And The Word” meaning Devotion to God through Service to Man.
     On Christmas day, 1956, Ned was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rebecca Jane Humphries. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before her recent passing on November 15, 2020. Ned is the cherished father of Sheryl Lewis (Gordon), Diane Frausto (David), Brenda Burnett (Brad), and Nancy Randles (Jeffrey) and adored as a grandfather and great grandfather of twenty-two.
     Ned began working at The Maytag Company in 1958 in Newton, IA where he enjoyed a successful career of 37 years. He worked as an Industrial Engineer and then transitioned into Human Resources where he led training teams as the Manager of Employee Participation.
     Ned and Becky raised four daughters and were active community members in Newton. Ned was instrumental in establishing a Junior Achievement program for the local high school, where he served as Founder and President. He was nationally recognized with Bronze and Silver Leadership Awards for his dedication and development of this educational program that focused on business training for young people. In addition, Ned coached local softball teams of all ages for many years. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church serving as elder, deacon and usher at various times.
     Ned kept those around him laughing with his many jokes that were affectionately referred to as ‘Nedly’s’. He loved listening to jazz music and jitterbugging with his family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and passed his love for Cardinals baseball to his entire family. His greatest attributes are his love, kindness, and patience displayed to all.

Rebecca Jane Sackett (Becky), age 85, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in Orangevale, CA. Becky was born on July 24th, 1935 to the late Norine and Robert Thomas Humphries in Cadiz, KY. She attended Butler High School and Murray State College in Kentucky. On Christmas day in 1956, Becky was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ned Lockhart Sackett. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together.
     Ned and Becky settled in Newton, IA where they raised four daughters and were active community members. Becky was a loving mother and homemaker and could always be found in the front row of her daughter’s concerts and sporting events showing her endless support. Becky enjoyed celebrating special occasions, making Christmas and birthdays unforgettable. She would often construct these occasions herself, creating precious memories for her children and grandchildren. This included directing a family play, organizing a city-wide scavenger hunt and numerous craft projects that were enjoyed by all.
     In addition, Becky enjoyed working as a Welcome Wagon hostess for many years, welcoming new families to town or celebrating the birth of their new child. Becky’s unwavering faith in God led her to be an active church member, serving as a deacon at The First Presbyterian Church in Newton, IA for many years.
     Becky is the cherished mother of Sheryl Lewis (Gordon), Diane Frausto (David), Brenda Burnett (Brad), and Nancy Randles (Jeffrey); beloved sister of Ann Thomas and niece of Sue Ellen McIntire and adored grandmother and great grandmother of twenty-two.
