Joseph A Gibbs, farmer, son of Linus Gibbs and Polly Sackett, was born in Blandford, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in about 1831.1,2 He married in Westhampton, Hampshire County, MassachusettsG, on 24 November 1857, Hannah A Fish, daughter of John Fish and Mercy ___.3 Hannah was born in BlandfordG in about 1834.2
     In 1850 Joseph was living in BlandfordG in the household of his parents Linus and Polly, and was recorded in the census as Joseph Gibbs, aged 19 and born in Massachusetts.4
     Joseph was named in his father's will made at Blandford on 18 June 1867. He was to inherit equally with her siblings after their mother's death.
