Mary P Sackett, daughter of George Sackett and Frances Verginia "Fanny" Grant, was born on 3 January 1867, probably in England.1,2 She died aged 79 at 1830 Wilton Road, Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, OhioG, on 4 September 19463 and was buried at Lake View Cemetery, ClevelandG.1 She married in Summit County, OhioG, on 29 June 1892, Augustus F Smith.4 Augustus was born on 1 April 1866.1 He died aged 75 on 5 September 1941 and was buried at Lake View CemeteryG.1
In 1880 she was living at Cuyahoga FallsG in the household of her parents George and Fanny, and was recorded as Mary P Sackett, aged 13 and born in England.5
In 1900 she was living at Edgewood Place, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, OhioG, in the household of her husband Augustus, 34, a railroad clerk, and was recorded as Mary B [sic] Smith, aged 33. Living with them was their son Leslie, aged six. There was also a female servant in the household.6
In 1910 she was living at Walton Road, Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County, OhioG, in the household of her husband Augustus, 43, chief clerk in a railroad office, and was recorded as Mary P Smith, aged 42. Their son Leslie, 16, and Mary's widowed mother Fannie, 77, were living with them.7
In 1920 she was living at Cleveland HeightsG in the household of her husband Augustus, 50, chief clerk at the Pennsylvania Railroad, and was recorded as Mary Smith, aged 50. Their unmarried son Leslie, 26, was living with them. There was also a female servant in the household.8
In 1930 she was living at Wilton Road, Cleveland HeightsG, in the household of her husband Augustus, 64, and was recorded as Mary Smith, aged 63.9

- Mary was probably an adopted daughter. Her birthplace (and that of her father) was given as England on the 1880 census. She was not listed in the 1870 census when she would have been aged three. Later censuses give her birthplace as Ohio.
