Julia Catherine Cook Sackett, daughter of Edward Cook and Mary Catherine Sackett, was born in Northwood, St Peter in Thanet, KentG, on 1 September 18451,2 and baptized at St Peter in ThanetG on 12 October 1845.3 She died aged 78 at home at 3 Gloucester Road, New Malden, SurreyG, on 9 January 1924.4,5 She married first at Ebenezer Chapel, RamsgateG, on 29 March 1866, Charles Giles, son of Daniel Giles.6,7 Charles was born in 1842.8 She married second in Bromley, KentG, in 1902, John Jeremiah William Sackett, second cousin, son of Samuel Sackett and Elizabeth Ann Watts.9,10
In 1851 Julia was living with her mother Mary in the Hamlet of Northwood, St Peter's, Thanet, KentG, in the household of her grandparents Vincent and Mary Sackett, and was recorded in the census as Julia Sackett, a scholar, aged five and born in St Peter's.11
In 1861 she was living at Northwood, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, in the household of her stepfather George Taylor and mother Mary, and was recorded as Julia C Sackett, aged 15, and born in St Peter's.12
In 1901 she was living at 43/45 Homedale Road, Bromley, KentG, and was recorded as Julia Catherine Giles, a beer and wine housekeeper (off licence), an employer, head of household, a widow, aged 54 and born in Ramsgate. Living with her were her son Vincent, 19, and daughter Amy, 17, who were both working in the beer-house.13
In 1911 she was living at 243 Hollydale Road, Peckham, LondonG, and was recorded as Julia Catherine Sackett, head of household, aged 65 and born in Northwood, Thanet, Kent. Living with her was her unmarried daughter Amy Giles, 27.14
In 1921 she was living at 3 Gloster Road, New Malden, SurreyG, and was recorded as Julia Catherine Sackett, a widow, head of household, aged 75. Her unmarried daughter Amy Giles, 38, was living with her.15
Julia left a will which was proved on 2 February 1924 by her daughter Amy. Her estate was valued at £325.16
