Sampson Sackett

Sampson Sackett was baptized at St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, on 22 July 1571.¹ This baptism record is the only reference found to Sampson Sackett. It does not name his parents. A candidate to be Sampson's father would be Simon Sackett who baptized a son Barnabus two years earlier at St Peter's. Contemporaries of Simon were John Sacket of Sackett's Hill and Thomas Sackett the elder of St Peter in Thanet. John of Sackett's Hill would be an unlikely candidate to be Sampson's father as he had baptized a daughter only two months earlier. Thomas the elder could be a candidate although, if he were Sampson's father, then Sampson would probably have predeceased him as he is not mentioned in Thomas's will of 1594.
