Grace Julia Sackett, daughter of Marvin Sackett and Julia Belendiva Goold, was born in West Lebanon, Columbia County, New York StateG, on 1 September 1871.1,2,3 She died aged 83 on 17 February 19554 and was buried at Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York StateG.5 She married at Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 16 July 1890, Edwin Chace Powell, son of George Townsend Powell and Marcia Rebecca Chace.1 Edwin was born on 3 March 1870.4 He died aged 83 on 11 July 1953 and was buried at the Cemetery of the EvergreensG.5
     In 1880 Grace was living in New Lebanon, Columbia County, New York StateG, in the household of her parents Marvin and Julia, and was recorded in the census as Grace J Sackett, aged eight and born in New York.6
     In 1900 she was living in Ghent, Columbia County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Grace Powell, head of household, married, aged 28. She rented her home. Living with her were her children, Donald, 9, Beatrice, 7, and Edith, aged two.7
     Grace was named as a beneficiary in her father Marvin's will made at New LebanonG on 27 September 1901. She was to inherit the remains of the estate equally with her siblings, Allen, Harry, and Fanny, after their mother's lifetime interest.8
     In 1910 she was living at Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of her husband Edwin, 40, an editor in a publishing house, and was recorded as Grace S Powell, aged 38. Living with them were their children, Donald, 18 (who was also the census enumerator), Beatrice, 17, and Edith, aged twelve.9
     In 1920 she was living at State Street, SpringfieldG, in the household of her husband Edwin, 49, an editor in a publishing company, and was recorded as Grace S Powell, aged 48.10
     In 1930 she was living at Wheaton Road, Wheaton, Montgomery County, MarylandG, in the household of her husband Edwin, 60, an editor employed by the government, and was recorded as Grace S Powell, aged 58. They owned their home.11
     Grace went on a West Indies cruise on the SS Rotterdam in 1933, leaving New York on 18 November 1933 and returning on 4 December. She was then living at 8637 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, Montgomery County, MarylandG.3
