Captain Orville Sackett, farmer, of Stanford, Dutchess County, New York, son of Samuel W Sackett and Anna Hammond, was born on 16 May 1798.1 He died aged 67 on 28 April 1866.1 He married Amy Briggs.1
     Orville Sackett was a commissioned officer in the 29th (Dutchess County) regiment of infantry from 1820.
     Orville was listed in the census in 1830 and 1840 as a householder in StanfordG.2,3
     Orville and his brother Harry were executors of their father's will which was proved in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess CountyG, on 8 March 1845.4

In 1820 and for several years thereafter he was a commissioned officer in the 29th or Dutchess County regiment of infantry.
