Douglas Sackett, son of George Fegen Sackett and Laura Louisa Revell, was born in St Luke, Ramsgate, KentG, in 1920.1 He died aged 80 in Thanet, KentG, in May 2000.2 He married in Ramsgate Christ Church, KentG, in 1941, Mabel Annie Doris Castle.3,4 Mabel was born in Paddington, LondonG, on 11 August 19215 and died aged 76 in ThanetG in March 1998.6
Douglas joined the British Post Office on 1 July 1940 as an unestablished skilled workman in the telephone manager's office in Canterbury. After the war, he re-joined in May 1945 as a skilled workman class II.7,8
