George Young Sackett, son of Jabez Sackett and Sarah Anne "Annie" Young, was born in Waltham, Caistor, LincolnshireG, on 13 May 1875.1,2,3 He died aged 74 in Hull, YorkshireG, in 1950.4 He married in Sculcoates, YorkshireG, in 1898, Catherine Rebecca "Kate" Garner, daughter of ___ Garner and ___ Lovell.5 Catherine was born in Garthorpe, LincolnshireG, on 27 June 1874.6,3 She died aged 89 in Barkston Ash, Yorkshire, EnglandG, in 1963.7
In 1881 George was living at North Gate, Walkington, YorkshireG, and was recorded in the census as George Y Sackett, a scholar, aged five and born in Waltham, Lincoln, son of Jabez Sackett.8
In 1891 he was living at 43 Paisley Street, Newington, Sculcoates, West Hull, YorkshireG, in the household of his mother Sarah., and was recorded as George Y Sackett, a fire engine cleaner, aged 16, and born in Waltham.9
In 1901 he was living at 11 Pulman Street, Sculcoates, Kingston upon HullG, and was recorded as G Sackett, a loco engine fireman, head of household, married, aged 25 and born in Waltham, Gt Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Living with him was his wife, listed as K Sackett, aged 26 and born in Garthorpe.10
In 1911 he was living at 255 Alliance Avenue, Hull, YorkshireG, and was recorded as George Young Sackett, locomotive engine driver, head of household, aged 35 and born in Waltham. Living with him were his wife Katherine, 36, and their daughters,
Kittybelle, 9, and Sarah, aged seven.11
In 1919 George was listed in the Hull Directory as an engine driver and was living at 267 Alliance Avenue, HullG.12,13
In 1921 he was living at 267 Alliance Avenue, HullG, and was recorded as George Young Sackett, a railway engine driver on the Hull & Barnsley line, head of household, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Catherine, 46, and their children, Kittybelle, 19, and Sarah, aged 17.14
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, George and Catherine were living at 267 Alliance Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull, YorkshireG. George was a locomotive engineman.15
