Leonard Austen, son of Valentine Austen and Ellen Sackett, was baptized at Buckland near Dover, KentG, on 30 January 1613/14.2 He died in Tilmanstone, KentG, between 17 August 1670 and 29 September 1670.
     Leonard, named as eldest son, was left £50 at 21 in his father Valentine's will made in Tilmanstone, Kent, in 1633.3
     Leonard was named as a beneficiary in his uncle Robert Sackett's will made at St John in ThanetG on 16 February 1660. Leonard was described in the will as "of Woodnesborough near Sandwich". He was made executor and was to inherit four small tenements and stables at Margate, eight acres of arable land at Bacon Dane now occupied by John Willson and, after bequests to other family members, was to take the residue of the estate.1
     Leonard made his will at Tilmanstone, KentG, on 17 August 1670. He left land and a tenement at St John in Thanet to his widowed sister Susan. He left his sister Alice £20, and his sister Mary £5. He left the residue of his estate, including land at St John and St Peter in Thanet, to his brother Valentine, whom he also appointed executor. The will was proved on 29 September 1670.4
