Roland was listed in the 1820 census as a householder in Russell, Hampden CountyG.8 In 1830 and 1840 he was a householder in WestfieldG.9,10
Roland was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in WestfieldG on 1 March 1834. He was to share with his brother Charles all the real estate. However, the estate was found to be insolvent and it would appear that the land would need to have been sold to meet the claims of creditors.11
In 1850 Roland was living in WestfieldG and was recorded in the census as Roland Sacket, a farmer, aged 55. Living with him were his wife Sarah, 56, and children, Ashmon, 27, and Marilla, aged 17.12

In 1870 he was living in WestfieldG and was recorded as Rorall Sackett, a farmer, aged 80. Living with him were his daughter Miranda, 50, and son Ashmon, 40. Also in the household were Alfred Loomis, 16, a farm laborer, and Elizabeth Gibbins, 50, a housekeeper.14
Roland was included in a list of principal tax payers of Westfield published in the Westfield News-Letter in August 1872.15
In 1880 he was living in WestfieldG and was recorded as Roland Sackitt, head of household, a widower, aged 88. Living with him was his son Ashman (wrongly described as brother in the census), aged 55. Also in the household was Harrison Newberry, 63, a laborer.16
Roland made his will in WestfieldG on 2 May 1882. He left his estate to his son Ashmon, subject to Ashmon making cash payments to his siblings: $400 to Enoch, $300 to Roland, and $100 to Marilla. In an unusual clause, Roland directed that the bodies of several family members buried on the family farm be removed to the Pine Hill Cemetery.17
