Capt Richard Sackett, son of Joseph Sackett and Hannah Budson, was born in Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 7 June 1754.1,2 He died aged 73 in Nichols, Tioga County, New York StateG, on 24 January 1828 and was buried at Asbury Cemetery, NicholsG.3 He married in Rye, Westchester County, New York StateG, on 1 April 1782, Tabitha Smith.2,4
     Richard served in the American Revolutionary War.
     In 1790 Richard was living in Bedford, Westchester County, New York StateG. In his household were two men, one boy, and three females.5
     Richard was appointed an executor of the will (made in 1798) of his cousin Colonel Richard Sackett, to serve jointly with Colonel Richard's sons Nathaniel and Caleb.
     Richard was listed in the 1800 census as a householder in BedfordG.6 He was taxed there on a house and farm valued at $2,390 in 1799 and 1800, and on real estate valued at $1,195 in 1801 and 1802.7
     Richard was listed in the 1810 census as a householder in Owego, Tioga CountyG.8 In 1820 he was a householder in Tioga, New York StateG.9
     Richard's widow Tabitha was listed in the census in 1830 as a householder in Nichols, Tioga County, New York StateG.10
