Emily Hogbin, daughter of Henry Sackett Hogbin and Emily Scott Rook, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, in about 18321 and baptized at St George, RamsgateG, on 6 May 1832.2
In 1841 Emily was living at King Street, RamsgateG, in the household of her parents Henry and Emily, and was recorded in the census as Emily Hogbin, aged nine and born in Kent.3
In 1851 she was living at Strand, Walmer, KentG, in the household of her uncle Thomas Cayley, and was recorded as Emily Hogbin, aged 18. Her cousin Hannah Hogbin, 25, was also in the household.4
In 1861 she was living at 2 Strand, Walmer, KentG, in the household of her parents Henry and Emily, and was recorded as Emily Hogben, aged 26 and born in Ramsgate.5
In 1871 she was living at 18 Strand, WalmerG, in the household of her parents Henry and Emily, and was recorded as Emily Hogbin, aged 37.6
In 1881 she was living at 2 York Terrace, Frimley Road, Frimley, SurreyG, in the household of her sister Mary and brother-in-law William Neville, and was recorded as Emily Hogbin, aged 39 [actually 49].7,8
