Justus Ralph Sackett, son of Justus Sackett Jr and Clarissa Belcher, was born in ConnecticutG on 29 July 18201,2,3 and baptized at the Second Congregational Church, Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 22 April 1821.4 He died aged 65 in GreenwichG on 27 November 18851,2 and was buried in the Second Congregational Church Cemetery, GreenwichG.2,5 He married in GreenwichG on 28 February 1843, Mary Elisabeth Mead, daughter of Jabez Mead and Sarah Williams Knapp.1,6 Mary was born in ConnecticutG on 22 February 1823.7,8,9,10 She died aged 73 in 401 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, New York City, New York StateG, on 18 December 18967,9,11 and was buried in the Second Congregational Church CemeteryG.9,12
     Justus was admitted to membership of the Second Congregational ChurchG on 3 July 1831.13
     In 1880 Justus was living at Brooklyn, New York City, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as J R Sackett, a commissioners' broker, head of household, married, aged 59 and born in Connecticut. Living with him were his wife, Mary, aged 57, sons George, 25, Walter, 23, Franklin, 20, and Robert, 18, and an unmarried aunt, Julia Mead, aged 61, presumably related to his wife Mary. Mary also ran their home as a boarding house and at the date of the census there were 13 boarders in residence, including two family groups.8
