Artimus Dillavou Sackett, later known as Arthur, merchant of Champaign, Illinois, son of Joseph Hunting Sackett and Idella Dillavou, was born in IllinoisG on 9 February 1886.1,2,3 He died aged 85 in IllinoisG in June 1971.4 He married in Marion County, IllinoisG, on 3 December 1911, Ada Van Patten, daughter of M Van Patten and ___ Crosby.5 Ada was born in IllinoisG on 16 August 1884.1,6
     In 1910 Artimus was living at Lagon Avenue, Danville, Vermilion County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Joseph and Idella, and was recorded in the census as Artimus D Sackett, a dry goods salesman, aged 24, single.7
     Artimus, as Arthur Dillavou Sackett, completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 32 and was a self-employed furniture dealer. He was living at 707 South First Street, Champaign, IllinoisG, with his wife Ada.8
     In 1920 he was living at East John Street, ChampaignG, and was recorded as Aurther D Sackette, proprietor of a furniture store, head of household, aged 30. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Ada, 33, and their daughter Virginia, aged three.9
     In 1930 he was living at East John Street, ChampaignG, and was recorded as Arthur D Sackett, proprietor of a furniture store, head of household, aged 45. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Ada, 45, and their children, Virginia, 13, and Elva, aged nine. There was also a female servant in the household.10
     Arthur completed a World War II draft registration card on 27 April 1942. He was aged 56 and was employed at the Sackett Furniture Store. He named his daughter Virginia, who was living with him at 1401 West University Avenue, ChampaignG, as his contact.11
     Artimus/Arthur was listed in the Champaign-Urbana City Directory from 1906 to 1960. In the early years he was known as Artimus or Artie and changed his name to Arthur when in his late 20s sometime between 1910 and 1918. He established a furniture business in Champaign by 1923, presumably as a branch, or at least borrowing the expertise, of his father's furniture business in Danville.12
     Arthur visited Florida in 1958, arriving at Port Everglades by a Mackey Airlines flight on 13 February 1958.13
