Edward Austin "Blind Ed" Sackett, son of Seymour Austin Sackett and Hannah Louisa Sibley, was born in MassachusettsG in May 1878.1 He died aged 62 in Great Falls, Cascade County, MontanaG, on 7 January 19412,3 and was buried at Highland Cemetery, Great FallsG.4
     In 1880 Edward was living in Westfield, MassachusettsG, and was recorded in the census as Eddie Sackett, aged two and born in Massachusetts. He was living in the Poor House with about 20 other paupers.5
     In 1900 Edward was living at the News & Working Boys Home, San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, and was recorded in the census as Edward R Sackett, a "working boy", aged 22.6
     In 1910 he was living at Barrett Street, RevereG, in the household of his brother George and and sister-in-law Katherine, and was recorded as Edward W? Sackett, blind, a rattan worker, aged 32.7
     Edward completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 40 and was a self-employed news dealer. He was living in Room H, Cary Building, Great FallsG, and was described as having "lost both eyes". He was, however, able to sign his registration card.8
     Edward was listed in the Great Falls City Directory from 1918 until his death in 1941.9
     In 1920 he was living at Central Avenue, Great FallsG, and was recorded as Edward R Sackett, a news dealer on the city streets, aged 41.10
     In 1930 he was living at Central Avenue, Great FallsG, and was recorded as Edward A Sackett, a newsboy, aged 51. He was living in a lodging house of 21 lodgers. Also in the lodging house was Theodore Frederick Sackett, although they were not listed together. They were presumably aware of each other but it is unlikely that they knew they were 7th cousins.11
