William F Sackett, wagon maker, of Ashley Falls, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, son of Joseph Sackett and Philena E Root, was born in Norfolk, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, in October 1845.1,2 He died aged 90 in Ashley FallsG on 25 November 19343 and was buried at Sackett (Ashley Falls) CemeteryG.4 He married first Adelaide Peck, daughter of John Peck and Louisa Turner. Adelaide was born in Winsted, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, in May 1850.1,5 She died aged 55 in Sheffield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 18 August 19056 and was buried at Sackett (Ashley Falls) CemeteryG on 20 August 1905.7 He married second after 1905, Emma Jane Pinney. Emma was born in 1863.8 She died aged about 63 in North Canaan, Litchfield CountyG, in 1926 and was buried at Sackett (Ashley Falls) CemeteryG.8
     In 1850 William was living in Norfolk, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, in the household of his parents Joseph and Philena, and was recorded in the census as William F Sacket, aged four and born in Connecticut.9
     In 1880 he was living in New Marlborough, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded as William F Sackett, a wagon maker, head of household, married, aged 36. Living with him were his wife Adda, 32, and their children, Frederick, 10, and Martha, aged four.10
     In 1900 he was living in SheffieldG and was recorded as William F Sackett, a wagon maker, head of household, aged 54. Living with him were his wife Adelaide, 50, and their children, Olive, 18, and Annie, aged ten.11
     In 1910 he was living at Ashley FallsG and was recorded as William F Sackett, a self-employed wagon painter, head of household, aged 66. He owned his home free of mortgage, and was a Union Army veteran. Living with him were his second wife Emma, 45, and their adopted daughter Dorothy, aged one year eleven months.12
     In 1920 he was living at School Street, Sheffield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded as William Sackett, a self-employed farmer, head of household, aged 75. Living with him were his wife Emma, 57, and adopted granddaughter Dorothy, aged 11. Also in the household was William's grandson Richard Bownes, aged two.13
     In 1930 he was living at Ashley Falls Village, SheffieldG, and was recorded as William F Sackett, head of household, a widower, aged 85. He owned his home. Living with him were his adopted grandchildren, Dorothy, 21, and Irving, 12.14
