Thomas Cook, son of John Cook and Ann Sackett, was born in Ash next Sandwich, KentG, in 1800 and baptized at St Nicholas, Ash next SandwichG, on 3 August 1800.1
     In 1861 Thomas was living in Ash next SandwichG and was recorded in the census as Thomas Cook, a farmer, head of household, single, aged 58. Living with him were his widowed mother Ann, 82, and his unmarried sister Charlotte, aged 38. There was also a female domestic servant in the household.2
